Ashley Williams, Swansea – £4.8m

He’d accumulated 27 points in 3 games prior to the 2-1 defeat at Man Utd, where he should have scored an equaliser, but he seems a decent bet to get back on track at home to struggling Sunderland.

James Collins, West Ham – £4.3m

Done a real stalwart’s job since coming back into the side, and his aerial threat from set pieces means he could score points at either end of the pitch. Next up, away to low-scoring Bournemouth.

Joel Ward/Pape Souaré, Crystal Palace – £4.5m

£5.8m team mate Scott Dann is the more obvious choice going into the trip to rock-bottom Aston Villa, but if you’re penny-pinching then Ward and Souaré are still going cheap.

Kurt Zouma/César Azpilicueta, Chelsea – £5.4m/£5.7m

With Chelsea looking resurgent, it’s a good time to bring in any of their first-choice defenders whose prices are still under £6m.

Ben Davies, Spurs – £4.1m

Leicester have been looking less potent, so if Davies keeps his left-back place ahead of Danny Rose then he could be quite the bargain.
