Our Fantasy Premier League tips Gameweek 16 defenders round-up is here to help you in your quest for fantasy football glory!

While our tips are based on FPL player prices, the principles should apply pretty much across the board – so even if you’re playing fantasy football at Sky Sports, the Telegraph, the Mirror or indeed anywhere else, stick around.

MORE FANTASY FOOTBALL TIPS:

Onwards, then…

César Azpilicueta, Chelsea – £6.1m

Chelsea may have lost their unbeaten record but they will more than likely keep a clean sheet at home to struggling Hull – and Azpilicueta remains their cheapest starting defender.

Unless of course the more attacking Filipe Luís manages to force his way into the side, and if he does then it’s worth noting that he’s only £5.4m.

Séamus Coleman, Everton – £6.9m

Due a goal, which tend to come for Coleman at Goodison Park more often than in away games – and even if he doesn’t score, you’d back Everton to keep a clean sheet at home to a QPR side that a) has lost every away game so far, and b) will be without the suspended Charlie Austin.

Chris Smalling, Manchester United – £5.3m

Looking a good bet for a regular run in the side even when other players return from injury, and on Sunday he plays at home to a Liverpool side that could hardly be described as free-scoring.

EDIT: Smalling went off with a leg injury after just 17 minutes of Monday night’s 2-1 win at Sunderland, so if it looks like he’s not going to make it then go for his £5.2m replacement Jonny Evans.

Alan Hutton, Aston Villa – £4.2m

Away to West Brom is just the kind of game where Villa have tended to nick a 1-0 win, and Hutton’s still going cheap – oh, and you might have noticed him popping up with the winning goal against Leicester last time out.

Good luck and happy selecting!
