Fantasy Premier League tips are now club-specific, at least for this summer – so strike while the iron’s hot and get on our suggestions for Queens Park Rangers bargains!
Harry Redknapp’s R’s were hardly scintillating in earning promotion via the Championship playoffs last season, but so often in recent history it’s been the winners of that particular showpiece event that go on to be the best performing promoted club.
Factor in some shrewd-looking transfer business and there should be cause for quiet optimism at Loftus Road. Now, those QPR Fantasy Premier League tips we promised you…
Steven Caulker – £5m
The defender scored an impressive five goals for Cardiff City last season – don’t forget, defenders earn 6 points per goal, so that’s a lucrative property.
With Rio Ferdinand alongside him, QPR’s defence could actually be quite solid this season. Now, just imagine if Caulker scored the winner in a 1-0 win – that’s 6 points for the goal, 4 for the clean sheet and almost certainly a 3-point performance bonus for having won the game.
You’d be laughing all the way to the Fantasy bank, basically.
Jordon Mutch – £5.5m
The midfielder scored an impressive seven goals for Cardiff last season – thinking on, how the hell did Cardiff manage to get relegated with a 5-goal centre-back and 7-goal midfielder? Sheer carelessness.
There’s no reason why Mutch can’t do it all over again in what looks like a stronger side…and if QPR would deign to sign Freddy Adu then that would make all of us headline writers very happy.
Charlie Austin – £6m
It all depends on whether the goal-scoring forward can reproduce his impressive Championship form at Premier League level.
Many have tried and failed to do so, but every now and then you get a Rickie Lambert, Grant Holt, Kevin Phillips or Marcus Stewart (remember him?). Austin will be vying with Burnley’s Danny Ings for such exalted status.
