Fantasy Premier League tips: 3 Leicester players to consider

We continue our series of team-by-team Fantasy Premier League tips with a look at which Leicester City players could wind up bargains in 2014-15.

The Foxes are back in the top flight for the first time since their Martin O’Neill heyday, back when top half finishes and the odd League Cup were not out of the question.

It’s just a shame they couldn’t get promoted while Sven-Göran Eriksson was their manager a few seasons back – no disrespect to Nigel Pearson, but that would have been more fun for everyone.

Anyway, please do accept our Foxy Fantasy Premier League tips with all the good grace that has come to define you, our dear readers…

1. Kasper Schmeichel – £4.5m

Bound to have a lot of shots coming his way as the goalkeeper of a newly promoted side, and if he’s half as commanding as his dad was then you’d back him to stop a fair few of those.

Remember – ‘keepers get an extra point for every three saves they make, not to mention any performance-related bonus points they might make on top of that for playing so well.

So, you know, Schmeichel could be a useful option at that price, especially if you rotate him with another first-choice goalkeeper depending on what the week’s fixtures hold.

We suggest whoever starts in goal for Sunderland – both Vito Mannone and Costel Pantilimon can be had for £4.5m as well, so keep an eye on that situation.

2. Danny Drinkwater – £5.5m

Leicester’s player of the year for last season with eight goals from midfield, Drinkwater shaped up for the new season with the winner in last week’s friendly at Walsall and could well be this season’s Jordon Mutch.

Notwithstanding the fact that Mutch has just signed for QPR, of course.

3. Leonardo Ulloa – £5.5m

A club record signing at £8m, the big Argentine forward was prolific in the Championship at Brighton and Hove Albion and may now be ready to wreak havoc at a higher level.

Furthermore, Ulloa also threatens to be one of this season’s most widely mispronounced names. You’ll find out soon enough.
