Onwards, then…

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 22: Strikers

Manchester City are at home to Cardiff City this weekend – need we say any more?

Sergio Agüero will be back soon, but Edin Džeko and Álvaro Negredo are doing quite nicely in the meantime, claiming a goal apiece in the 2-0 win at Newcastle United.

Džeko is at present a fabulous option at just £6.7m, but £9.9m Negredo looks likelier to remain in the side when Agüero comes back in – up to you to weigh up the short term against the long term, then.

Speaking of strike duos, Luis Suárez and Daniel Sturridge were back in the tandem in Liverpool’s 5-3 win at Stoke City, setting each other up for goals to remind us of their devastating understanding.

The Reds look formidable at Anfield, where they welcome Aston Villa this weekend – Villa have a decent away record, but we’ll be making Suárez our captain in anticipation of another productive afternoon for the Uruguayan.

At £9.1m, Sturridge will set you back considerably less than £13.4m Suárez, so he’s a good option if you need to free up funds for elsewhere in your squad.

Take out Suárez at your peril, mind – the guy’s a machine.

Fernando Torres is back! Er, again – the Spaniard’s clincher in Chelsea’s 2-0 win at Hull City was his third goal in four, so you might now see him getting a run.

This weekend sees Jose Mourinho’s at home to Manchester United, an opponent who Torres has terrorised in the past while at Liverpool.

He could turn out to be good value at £8.2m, although do be wary of another false dawn.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Emmanuel Adebayor continued his good run with an assist in Spurs’ 2-0 win over Crystal Palace – at £7.8m, he’s looking increasingly like a smart move.
