Having already been downright decent enough to grant you our goalkeeping and defensive Fantasy Football Tips for Gameweek 16, we might as well go the whole hog and offer you our midfield and striker tips too.
Bear in mind, though, that we can’t know for certain what will happen in this weekend’s Premier League fixtures – only Mystic Megson knows that – so there is a minute chance that our Fantasy Football tips might not work out for you.
We also ought to make it clear that our Fantasy Football tips are based on the official Premier League version of the game, although the principles should apply across the board.
Let’s do this thing…
Fantasy Football Tips, Gameweek 16 – Midfielders
Chelsea may be inconsistent on the whole, but their midfield can be relied upon for goals.
£7.1m André Schürrle scored a couple of crackers in the 3-2 defeat at Stoke City, while £9.8m Eden Hazard notched a fine brace of his own in the preceding 4-3 win at Sunderland.
£7.7m Frank Lampard also scored at Sunderland, and got two at West Ham United a few weeks ago, and then there’s the £8.9m Oscar to consider – he’s missed the last couple of games through injury but still has five goals already this season.
And that’s without even taking into account the reintroduction of £9.4m Juan Mata – if he doesn’t lose his place the moment Oscar returns (possibly this weekend, so keep an eye on that) then it’s worth remembering that last season brought him 20 goals in all competitions.
With Chelsea’s midfielders hogging all the goals, we recommend availing of them for their game at home to Crystal Palace this weekend. As many as possible.
The problem of course is rotation, therefore not knowing who will be playing from week to week.
Oscar and Hazard look like the most nailed-on regulars, but we recommend consulting team news and online fans’ forums all the same.
Norwich City v Swansea City presents an intriguing meeting of two in-form midfielders, namely the former’s £5.8m Leroy Fer and the latter’s £5.6m Jonjo Shelvey.
Both good cheap options, although Everton starlet Ross Barkley, fresh from his man of the match performance at Arsenal, can still be had for just £5.1m.
You might fancy him to turn on the style at home to struggling Fulham, although be wary – he was rested for Everton’s previous game at home to bottom-half opposition, the 4-0 win against Stoke City.
There will be a ton of midfield quality on show when Manchester City take on Arsenal at the Etihad, but they may cancel each other out.
Still, £10.3m Gunners star Mesut Özil has racked up double-figures points scores in each of his last three games, so that’s a trend worth taking heed of.
Fantasy Football Tips, Gameweek 16 – Strikers
Everton’s recent form indicates that they should have too much for Fulham at Goodison Park this weekend, so £8.3m Romelu Lukaku could prove a shrewd choice of captain.
Then there’s on-loan whizz kid Gerard Deulofeu, who of course came off the bench to fire in an emphatic equaliser at Arsenal.
He started the Toffees’ last game at home to a bottom-half side, bagging a goal and an assist in the 4-0 win over Stoke, so he looks a mighty tempting option at just £5.4m.
We reckon £8.2m Loïc Rémy is due a goal for Newcastle United, who welcome Southampton to St James’s Park on Saturday.
It’s worth noting also that Yoan Gouffran has scored in each of the Magpies’ last three home games, so you might consider him to be worth a punt at £6.4m.
Top scorers Sergio Agüero and Luis Suárez face tough games – home to Arsenal and away to Tottenham Hotspur respectively – so be wary of captaining them.
We reckon Wayne Rooney is a better bet – he’ll be returning from suspension for Manchester United’s trip to Aston Villa, and we can see him being really fired up.
Remember: don’t be afraid to take the four-point hit of an extra transfer if you’re confident it’ll pay off. Happy selecting!
