Yesterday we presented you with our goalkeeping and defensive Fantasy Football Tips for Gameweek 12, so it’s only natural that we now bring you our midfield and striker tips.
Just bear in mind that we don’t actually know for sure what this weekend’s Premier League results will be, so there is a smidgen of a chance – just a smidgen – that our Fantasy Football tips might not come good for you.
Only Mystic Megson can predict the scores. Everyone knows that.
Oh aye – our tips are based on the Premier League version of the game, but the principles should apply across the board.
Let’s crack on, then, with our latest dispatch of Fantasy Football tips…
Fantasy Football Tips, Gameweek 12 – Midfielders
England new boy Adam Lallana (£6.9m) is a popular pick at the moment, but with Southampton away to Arsenal this weekend you might want to hold fire on any plans to rope him in.
Steven Gerrard revels in Merseyside derbies, so his £8.9m self could pay off for you when Everton take on Liverpool at Goodison Park for Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off.
Some say that Gerrard’s past it but he’s still racking up the points in Liverpool’s regular thrashings of bottom-half sides at Anfield, chipping in with penalties and free kicks in support of that deadly duo up top.
He’s listed as having a slight fitness issue, as is Arsenal sensation Aaron Ramsey (still only £7.3m), but both are listed as 75% likely to play so the risk is worth taking.
West Bromwich Albion’s Stéphane Sessègnon (£6.6m) is in a rich vein of form, tearing Chelsea a new one at Stamford Bridge last time out.
You might fancy him to do likewise at home to Aston Villa, for whom free kick specialist Leandro Bacuna (£4.7m) could be worth a sneaky punt.
Fantasy Football Tips, Gameweek 12 – Strikers
Newcastle United’s Loïc Rémy (£7.8m) is flying, having scored in back-to-back wins over Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
With the Magpies at home to Norwich City this weekend, we dare say the Frenchman strikes as good value.
The Merseyside derby pits Romelu Lukaku (£8m) against Luis Suárez (£12m) and Daniel Sturridge (£9.8m), with the Uruguayan comfortably the leader in terms of recent form.
Suárez scored twice in last season’s Goodison fixture so he could be a canny choice of captain – remember, your captain gets double points so choose wisely.
Manchester United’s Robin van Persie is another 75%-rated doubt but recent form suggests he’s back in his imperious goal-scoring groove, and therefore worth the £13.9m hit.
The Red Devils go to Cardiff City, so he’s another you might want to consider for captaincy.
Manchester City’s Sergio Agüero leads the Fantasy points table but might find it tricky against the solid defence of Tottenham Hotspur.
City are at home, though, where they have a 100% record. So, you know, that’s something else to think about.
