Yesterday we gave you our goalkeeping and defensive Fantasy Football tips for Gameweek 10, so now let’s crack on with our midfield and strikers tips.
We do ask you to bear in mind that we don’t actually know for certain what this weekend’s Premier League fixtures hold in store, so on the off chance our Fantasy Football Tips don’t come good – and there is a remote possibility of this – don’t get all death-threaty and letter-bomby.
Okay? Let’s do this, then…
Fantasy Football Tips, Gameweek 10 – Midfielders
Arsenal v Liverpool looks likely to be a high-scoring game, so we’d expect Aaron Ramsey (£7m), Mesut Özil (£10.8m) and Steven Gerrard (£8.9m) all to be in the thick of the action.
Ramsey’s price has been creeping steadily upwards by the week, and his key contributions show little sign of abating. If you haven’t already, get him while he’s still relatively cheap.
Manchester City will be keen to bounce back from defeat at Chelsea with a resounding victory at home to Norwich City, something the presence of Yaya Touré (£9.5m) and David Silva (£9.3m) in their midfield should help along nicely.
The Ivorian’s likelier to get you goals, the Spaniard assists – but with Sergio Agüero looking back to his best, don’t discount Silva set-ups as a reliable source of points.
In-form Samir Nasri might also be worth a look at £8m, although he has previous in terms of blowing hot and cold.
Elsewhere, Newcastle United’s Hatem Ben Arfa (£7m) has been operating as a centre forward of late, albeit not to the greatest of effect – still, midfielders playing up front is something to look out for, since midfielders gain more points for goals than their striker counterparts.
Theo Walcott and Michu (£8.9m) were popular picks last season for that very reason, and you’ve got to fancy the latter to score for Swansea City in this weekend’s ‘showdown’ at Cardiff City. Not sure why…he just seems like the man for the big occasion.
Everton’s Leon Osman came on as a substitute to claim a goal and an assist in the Toffees’ win at Aston Villa, but it remains to be seen if this wins him back a starting berth at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
If it does then Ross Barkley looks likeliest to make way – the youngster is showing signs of needing a break, so the many of you out there with him in your side might want to keep an eye on that situation.
Fantasy Football Tips, Gameweek 10 – Strikers
Sometimes, all signs point towards one particular player scoring an absolute shedload – get the captain’s armband on them and, since that returns double points, it can pay off spectacularly.
Football Burp thought Luis Suárez to be likely to prosper at home to West Bromwich Albion last time out, and our decision to make him captain reaped 34 points when he then went an bagged a hattrick.
Who might it be this time? Our money is on either Sergio Agüero (£11.3m), who has six goals from his last four games going into City’s home game against struggling Norwich, or Wayne Rooney (£10.9m).
The Manchester United star has scored five goals in his last five games against Fulham, and Craven Cottage seems like the kind of place that makes for a happy hunting ground for an on-song Rooney.
You might fancy Robin van Persie to cause the lion’s share of the destruction but, at £13.9m, we need to see more evidence of form and fitness before he looks like a viable option again.
Aston Villa goal machine Christian Benteke is back and available for £8.8m, while his fellow Belgian Romelu Lukaku (£8.1m) keeps on scoring for Everton.
Spurs’ solid defence shall though offer stiff resistance, so maybe hold fire on that one.
