Our Fantasy Premier League tips Gameweek 6 defenders and goalkeepers round-up is here to do all sorts of wonderful things for your fantasy team! That’s the idea, anyway.

Though our tips are based on FPL player prices, the principles should apply more or less across the board – so even if you’re playing the fantasy football game at Sky Sports, the Telegraph, the Mirror or indeed anywhere else, stick around.

MORE FANTASY FOOTBALL TIPS:

Right – avoiding obvious picks, let’s do this thing…

Nathaniel Clyne, Southampton – £5.3m

Saints have three straight wins, two straight clean sheets and a home game coming up this weekend against a QPR side that’s lost both their previous away games this season 4-0.

With a goal and an assist to his name already this campaign, Clyne is currently the FPL’s highest points-scoring defender – and no, we can’t think of a synonym for ‘season’ other than ‘campaign’.

Please write in your suggestions.

Joleon Lescott, West Bromwich Albion – £4.9m

Lescott’s debut for West Brom coincided with their first win of the season, a 1-0 triumph at Spurs that graced a weekend of oddly predictable shock results.

The Baggies are at home to low-scoring Burnley this weekend, while Lescott has been known to ‘notch’ a goal or two in his time.

Neil Taylor, Swansea City – £4.5m

Away to Sunderland might not be the most straightforward fixture, but Swansea have a solid enough defence to get something out of it.

As a bargain option, you could do worse than Taylor.

Elsewhere, it’s such a basket case of a league so far that it’s hard to predict clean sheets with any significant degree of confidence.

It’s probably best to stick to just playing three at the back and channel most of your resources on midfield and forwards, at least until defences settle and patterns are established.
