A woman who persuaded her husband not to renew his Leicester season ticket before the start of their title-challenging campaign has admitted publicly what she has done.

Kate Diamond, whose Twitter bio says that she “hates soup”, revealed all on the social network as Claudio Ranieri’s side went five points clear at the top of the table after a 1-0 home win against Newcastle on Monday night:

I guess my husband's overriding memory of this historic #LCFC run will be me, back in April, persuading him not to renew his season ticket.

Tune in on the final day of the season to see if our marriage survives that decision.

Some people passed judgement:

@katediamond hopefully he leaves you tbh. Nobody wants a woman who persuades you to not do the things you like/love.

… while others provided helpful words of marital advice:

@katediamond Tell him "It's only a game". It will be of much comfort to him.
