Unfolding scenes at West Ham as they lost 0-3 at home to Burnley on Saturday afternoon saw one pitch invader grab the corner flag and carry it to the centre circle before holding it aloft in some kind of act of defiance.

Anger at the club board’s controversial characters David Sullivan, David Gold and Karren Brady spilled onto the pitch at the London Stadium as the trio experienced strong resentment in the stands.

One West Ham fan managed to reach the centre circle with the corner flag before sauntering security finally caught up with him, while others tussled with stewards and players alike.
