Tottenham Hotspur manager José Mourinho says his goalkeepers told him the goalposts were too small before Thursday’s Europa League game at Shkëndija.

Spurs won 3-1 in the third qualifying round match in Macedonia, with Érik Lamela, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane all scoring.

Afterwards, their Portuguese boss said:

Before the game there was a funny situation because my goalkeepers told me that the goal was small.

And I went by myself [to look] and of course the goal was small.

I am not a goalkeeper but I am in football since I was a kid, and I know when I stand there and stretch my arm, I know the distance.

So I felt immediately that something was going wrong. We got the UEFA delegate to confirm, and yes it was 5cm smaller.

Of course we demanded for the goals to be replaced for goals of the right dimension.
