A photo of an Alan Shearer street sign spotted by a Newcastle United fan in the Middle East has surfaced.

Proudly wearing a classic ’90s home shirt, the supporter poses next to the sign with glee.

Al Inshirah or Alan Shearer Street can be found in Muscat, the capital city of the Arab state of Oman – a small country positioned on the south-east coast of the Arabian Peninsula.

It turns out the road runs right by The British School and Muscat’s Royal Opera House in the humid port-town. Other highlights include the Turkish Embassy and the Al Madina Art Gallery.

There are also unconfirmed reports of an Al Inshirah restaurant in the nearby area.

Furthermore, Al Shera Tower has been spotted in Dubai, in neighbouring United Arab Emirates:
