The Manchester City striker, bonkers, made headlines this morning by declaring that he is quite prepared to go to prison for killing anyone in Poland or Ukraine that throws a banana at him, even threatening to walk off the pitch mid-game if he is subjected to racist abuse from the stands.
However, Terry insists that he will not allow the Italian’s “mind games” to put him off his own performances, citing his feud with Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand as evidence that he is prepared to stand up for what he believes in.
He said: “I’m not bothered by what Mario’s said, to be honest with you.
“At the end of the day you’ve just got to concentrate on your own game and get on with it, so if it’s necessary then I won’t hesitate to call Mario a ***** ****.
“I think I showed by calling Anton a ***** **** that I’m just a normal lad who speaks his mind. It’s all about the situation – I felt that was what I had to do that day, but if the situation had called for me to have sex with someone or something important to him, even Rio for crying out loud, I’d have done it because I’m just committed to getting the result.
“I appreciate that Mario thinks it’s not right to actively discriminate against someone based on the colour of their skin, but you’ve got to play the course you’re on and as everyone saw on telly the other night the Euros are being staged somewhere that’s teeming with violent fascists, so ‘when in Rome’ and all that.
“He can kill me if he wants – I’ll just kill him back. At the end of the day it’s all a bit of banter.”
He added: “Do you want anything from the greengrocers?”
