Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher will escalate their long-running strand of dull repartee for tonight’s Liverpool v Man Utd clash.
The comedy duo told excited viewers to expect plenty of digs about each other’s lack of pace and whatnot.
And there is sure to be plenty of swordplay regarding their respective failed managerial careers – Neville was sacked just months into his stint at Valencia, while Carragher has repeatedly failed to manage his own phlegm when saying words like ‘psychologically’ and ‘Sakho’.
Sky Sports staple Monday Night Football has long been a hotbed of devastatingly on-point banter, pioneered by the since-dated stylings of Keys and Gray.
But nothing brings home the banter bacon quite like Neville and Carragher overseeing the biannual Liverpool v Man Utd festival.
Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, Monday Night Football presenter David Jones was in bullish mood.
He said: “I’ve been practising turning to the camera with a wry smile, as if to say, ‘Oh, larks! Now here’s the next segment.’
“It’s gonna be legendary.”
