A man from Bury called Dave was last night celebrating as an old Football Manager game of his came true, it is being reported.
Dave, jubilant, said he was so amused by things that came to pass in a long-running Football Manager game of his four years ago that he posted a message on an internet forum detailing what he thought to be bizarre events.
In an astonishing twist, he was left incredulous when he logged onto a prominent sport website yesterday and found that Luis Boa Morte had signed for Chesterfield Town, Francis Jeffers is in talks with a Maltese club and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is being linked with the Bolton Wanderers job.
He said: “It’s an astonishing coincidence, made all the more remarkable by the news just coming in that Neil Ardley is the new manager of AFC Wimbledon.
“I had him in my old Crewe Alexandra side back when the game was still called Championship Manager. He once scored eight goals in a season for me from right-back, although to be fair he was on free-kicks and penalties.
“If Tonton Zola Moukoko signs for Juventus then I really will begin to freak out.”
Dave says he has not yet decided how to spend his winnings but that he has no intention of quitting his job as a sales assistant.
