Amazing Gareth Bale goals come around so frequently that a mere top ten of them feels woefully inadequate.
By upping the bar to fifteen, the woefully inadequate is upgraded to richly comprehensive. It’s a neat little trick we learned.
We’ve got ridiculously good Bale goals for Tottenham Hotspur, Wales and Real Madrid here – including his stunning Copa del Rey final winner against Barcelona on Wednesday night.
If you don’t like rubbish music then you should probably turn the sound off. If however you love stupefyingly spectacular togger, check out our top 15 amazing Gareth Bale goals…

15. Gareth Bale v Schalke
Astounding close control enables this jinky run and finish.
14. Gareth Bale v Wigan Athletic
Bale is one of the surely very few players to have scored with a karate kick.
13. Gareth Bale v Manchester City
Alas this clip of the goal shows insufficient build-up – however, you should be able to make out how artfully he arcs the ball into the far top corner, a skill since mastered by City lynchpin Yaya Touré.
12. Gareth Bale v Stoke City
BAM! That’s one helluva volley back across goal.
11. Gareth Bale v Elche
Steadies himself, fabulous follow-through, crashes in off the woodwork. A most handsome strike.
10. Gareth Bale v Southampton
Bale had declined to celebrate when he scored against his old club earlier in the season, but he couldn’t help but go potty after cutting inside and drilling it into the far bottom corner from, ooh, let’s say 25 yards.
9. Gareth Bale v Sunderland
Again with the cutting in and scoring an absolute scorcher.
8. Gareth Bale v West Ham United
A last-minute winner straight out of the top drawer.
=7. Gareth Bale v Olympique Lyonnais, both free kicks
You’ve got to be pretty darn great to score two Cristiano Ronaldo style free kicks in one game. Joint seventh, they are.
6. Gareth Bale v Norwich City
Picks it up in his own half, runs and runs and runs then BLAMMO!
5. Gareth Bale v Scotland
Bale drives into the Scottish half, gets brought down by Charlie Adam, has the free-kick knocked back to him and proceeds to take on all bar one of the opposition.
Look, ten men behind the ball when he receives it, and still he finds a way through on his own. That’s really rather astonishing.
4. Gareth Bale v Barcelona
The one they’re all talking about – veers off the pitch yet still roasts Marc Bartra in a straight foot race. Practically laps him.
3. Gareth Bale v Iceland
What seems to have passed largely unnoticed though is that Bale had pulled off such a stunt before, and from an even trickier starting position.
2. Gareth Bale v Swansea City
Seems to control it with his right and strike it with his left all in one movement. One of those Bergkamp v Newcastle type goals that you can’t quite work out even on the trillionth viewing.
=1. Gareth Bale hat-trick v Inter Milan
Explosive, unerring, lethal – Bale’s Champions League hat-trick for Spurs at Inter Milan was all of these things and more. All three are joint winners.
