Manchester City were able to beat Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea side 6-0 in the Premier League at the Etihad on Sunday evening.

The hosts inflicted Chelsea’s heaviest defeat in almost three decades and their 69-year-old Italian manager felt the need to apologise to fans following the final whistle:

In the last three matches away we’ve played very badly, so we need to say sorry.

Defender César Azpilicueta also claimed that it was “one of the worst nights in my career”.

I'm not saying Chelsea have been robbed but it's a bit unfair when Man City are allowed to start two Kevin De Bruynes #MCICHE pic.twitter.com/Nvn0XqBMA6

Chelsea are heroes in my eyes. They knew Man City needed a convincing win to boost their confidence and they took a hell of a beating for the whole humanity. My respect is yours
