As word gets out that Watford have rejected Leicester’s £20m Troy Deeney bid, here is a selection of the very best jokes.
There were just as many people expressing amazement at Leicester offering £20m for Deeney as there were at Watford rejecting it, although Walsall’s contractual entitlement to 25% of any fee over £500k might help explain that.
The Hornets forward enjoyed a decent campaign on a personal level, scoring 15 goals in all competitions and laying on many more for strike partner Odion Ighalo.
No one however would have thought that he’d be earmarked as Jamie Vardy’s successor and playing in next season’s Champions League – hence all these jokes as Watford rejected Leicester’s £20m Troy Deeney bid:

For me, Watford turning down £20m for Troy Deeney was football's most shocking moment since the time Leicester bid £20m for Troy Deeney.

Not going to lie, I never thought I’d ever witness the Premier League champions getting a bid for Troy Deeney rejected.

If Leicester spend £20m on Troy Deeney they deserve 10-0 humiliations in every CL game and relegation

Troy Deeney is decent. But £20m? Football has gone mad. I must be worth at least £2k then, even with shin splints.
