Those World Cup Fantasy Football tips for the Group Stage we gave you before happened to be based around the official Fifa version of the game, which doesn’t allow you to make any more transfers until the knock-out stages.
However, other versions of the game – including The Mirror’s World Cup Fantasy Football game, our preferred version on account of its similarity to Fantasy Premier League – all you to make transfers in between the three rounds of Group Stage matches.
That’s why we decided to offer up our World Cup Fantasy Football Tips for Group Stage 2 strikers, for those of you playing one of the more transfer-friendly World Cup Fantasy Football games…

World Cup Fantasy Football Tips, Group Stage 2: Strikers
First off, some versions of the game include Brazil v Mexico in Round 1, even though it’s each team’s second match.
If this is the case with the game you’re playing, get your Brazilians and Mexicans out of there! Sell ’em, sub ’em, whatever it takes.
Argentina look like being the big winners of what is effectively ‘Gameweek 2’, taking on as they are Iran. Lionel Messi, Sergio Agüero, Gonzalo Higuaín…take your pick, really.
Holland/the Netherlands duo Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben also look good bets after their demolition job on Spain – and while their next opponents Australia are no mugs, you’d have to fear for them.
Karim Benzema looked in fine form scoring twice (very almost thrice) in France’s 3-0 win over Honduras, although Switzerland should provide significantly sterner opposition (if not more brutal).
If Germany’s Thomas Müller is listed as a striker in your game then by all means bring him in for their match against Ghana, even more so if you manage to find him listed as a midfielder.
We did, and our investment was rewarded with a hat-trick in the 4-0 win over Portugal. Expect more to come from this prolific World Cup marksman.
Dare we suggest Luis Suárez and/or Edison Cavani for Uruguay against England? Look, if you want to win your World Cup Fantasy League then you might have to fight dirty once in a while.
Italy v Costa Rica could be interesting in its pitting against each other of opening game goal-scorers Mario Balotelli and Joel Campbell, ditto Spain v Chile as Diego Costa goes head-to-head with Alexis Sanchez.
And hey, how about Teofilo Gutierrez and Jackson Martínez v Wilfried Bony, Didier Drogba and Gervinho in Colombia v Ivory Coast? Or Romelu Lukaku for Belgium against Russia? Or even Cristiano Ronaldo v USA?
World Cup’s ace, isn’t it? Anyway, happy choosing!
(DISCLAIMER: You should already know about Cristiano Ronaldo.)
