Two defenders with potential for attacking contributions and a very decent chance of at least one clean sheet out of their Double Gameweek fixtures at home to Crystal Palace and West Brom.

Alberto Moreno, Liverpool – £4.6m

Grabbed a goal and an assist in the 4-1 win over Stoke last time out, and has Double Gameweek fixtures away to Bournemouth and at home to an Everton side that will have one eye on their FA Cup semi-final a few days after.

Eliaquim Mangala, Man City – £5.3m

If you want a City defender who’s likely to start both games away to Chelsea and Newcastle then the affordable Mangala looks a decent bet.

Chris Smalling, Man Utd – £6.5m

Home games against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace could well yield a couple of clean sheets, although United’s continuing defensive injuries are a worry.
