Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 34: Goalkeepers and Defenders
Everton and Manchester City each play twice in Gameweek 34 – the Toffees go to Sunderland then play at home to Crystal Palace, while City go to Liverpool then play at home to Sunderland.
Not looking good for Sunderland, is it?
Anyway, you might do well to get an Everton defender or two in your team – full-backs Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines are popular picks for their attacking prowess, but they don’t come cheap.
John Stones, deputising for the injured Phil Jagielka, is priced at just £4.1m, while fellow centre-back Sylvain Distin is not unreasonably priced at £5.4m.
Aleksandar Kolarov’s wicked cross for Manchester City’s third goal against Southampton underlines just what he can bring to the Fantasy table – however, City tend to prefer Gaël Clichy for away games.
Kolarov might then only play against Sunderland, but an attacking contribution and/or clean sheet would make him good value for money at just £5.1m.
Southampton have to be a good bet to keep a clean sheet at home to Cardiff City, ditto Crystal Palace at home to Aston Villa, so you might want to browse the various bargains on offer amongst their respective defensive pools.
Young Saints right-back Calum Chambers could be outstanding value at a bargain £3.9m, at least if he survives the 4-1 defeat at Manchester City.
£3.9m will also get you Palace’s Adrian Mariappa, whose performance in the 3-0 win at Cardiff City earned him 10 points.
