Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 22: Midfielders
Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea are all at home this weekend, but then you should know all about their various midfield talents already.
We’re interested therefore in offering you less buck for your bang, if that makes any sense at all.
Christian Eriksen‘s goal for Tottenham Hotspur in the 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace was his third in four games, in which time he’s also claimed an assist.
At £7.3m, the Dane’s looking increasingly like a smart move, not that Spurs’ trip to Swansea City this weekend will be an easy one.
The game at the Stadium of Light between Sunderland and Southampton could be decided by who has the better game out of the former’s £6.4m Adam Johnson and the latter’s £7.4m Adam Lallana.
Lallana’s winner against West Bromwich Albion was his 5th goal of the season, while he’s also claimed 6 assists – as things stand, this makes him the fourth-highest rated midfielder in the Fantasy realm.
As for Johnson, he marked his first start since the beginning of December with a hat-trick and an assist in the Black Cats’ 4-1 win at Fulham, earning a staggering 22 points in the process.
Fulham’s goal came from Steve Sidwell, his second in two games and fifth altogether, meaning this is already his most prolific season to date.
He therefore looks a bargain at just £5.1m, although we wouldn’t back him to keep the run going at his former club Arsenal this weekend.
Another to claim his 5th goal of the season over the weekend was Stoke City’s Charlie Adam, whose added prowess on set pieces makes him good value for money at £5.6m.
Stoke go to Crystal Palace this weekend, while Everton travel to West Bromwich Albion with both Ross Barkley and Gerard Deulofeu sidelined through injury.
This places added emphasis on Kevin Mirallas‘s role in the side, and the Belgian responded with an expertly taken free kick in the Toffees’ 2-0 win over Norwich City.
At £7.2m, it’s worth keeping an eye on his form – the tail end of last season showed that he’s capable of stringing a run of goals together, and he’s got an assist or two in him too.
