Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 21: Midfielders
Our main man in recent weeks, Arsenal’s Theo Walcott, looks set to miss the rest of the season through injury – so anyone smart enough to have roped him in should probably make alternative plans.
We vowed not to play our wildcard for the time being but of course we caved, with one of our moves being to bring in Mesut Özil for Walcott.
The German’s price is down to £9.9m after a run of poor form and injury-related absence, but he’s expected to be in the side for the Gunners’ trip to Aston Villa on Monday night.
Villa’s home record verges on woeful, so we’re backing Özil to get back up and running with an assist or two, maybe even a goal of his own.
Perhaps his recent absence will have a refreshing effect on him, which certainly seems to have been the case for Chelsea’s Oscar.
The Brazilian ‘notched’ a goal and two assists at Southampton in Gameweek 20, following this up with another strike at Derby County in the weekend’s FA Cup 3rd round tie.
He’ll set you back just £8.7m – compare and contrast with £10.4m teammate Eden Hazard and he looks to be quite the bargain.
You might even want to try accommodating both, for Chelsea – who go to Hull City in Saturday’s early kickoff – have been looking stronger and stronger of late.
We’d suggest Stoke City’s on-form Oussama Assaidi, but he’s ineligible to play against his parent club Liverpool this weekend.
Still, at £4.7m, he’s worth bearing in mind for Gameweek 22.
Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 21: Strikers
Stoke’s not an easy place to go to, as Everton found out in Gameweek 20, having to rely on a last-minute Leighton Baines penalty to snatch a point.
As such we’re thinking twice about making Luis Suárez our captain for this one – perhaps go for whichever midfielder of yours you consider most likely to score or assist this weekend, or even Seamus Coleman if you have him.
The striker landscape is looking pretty bare at the moment, what with Sergio Agüero, Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney all out injured, so now could be a good time to experiment with cutting costs up front in order to strengthen your options elsewhere.
West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino looks like he could be a bit of a bargain – he’s scored in back-to-back games now, and will set you back the paltry sum of £4.6m.
Manchester United have their problems but Danny Welbeck remains a very presentable option at £7.1m nonetheless – Moyes’s men are at home to Swansea City again this weekend, so they should be hell bent on avenging their FA Cup defeat.
Tottenham Hotspur are at home to Crystal Palace, so how about Emmanuel Adebayor at £7.7m? Hmm?
Have a think about it.
