Yesterday we granted you our goalkeeping and defensive Fantasy Football Tips for Gameweek 13, so following that up with our midfield and striker tips seems to be in order.

Just remember that we can’t predict this weekend’s events with 100 per cent certainty, so there is a wee bit of a chance – just a wee one – that our Fantasy Football tips might not change your life.

Said tips are based on the official Premier League version of the game, but the principles should apply across the board.

Now let’s do this thing…

Fantasy Football Tips, Gameweek 13 – Midfielders

With two goals and an assist in Manchester City’s 6-0 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur, Jesús Navas was the midfield revelation of Gameweek 12.

City look indomitable at the Etihad, where this weekend they shall ‘entertain’ Swansea City – so, you know, you might want to think about taking a punt on the Spanish winger.

Navas can be had for £8.1m, which may not be a bargain but could be viewed as such if you happen to be one of the many with Yaya Touré in your team.

The £9.6m Ivorian may be riding high in terms of points but that’s mostly due to his four goals in the opening six matches.

In six subsequent games, Touré has managed only one goal and one assist from what looks to be a relatively deep-lying role.

You might see what we’re getting at – bring in Navas for Touré, save yourself £1.5m to upgrade another part of your squad.

Chelsea are maddeningly inconsistent but it’s hard to ignore Eden Hazard, Oscar and Frank Lampard all racking up double-figure points tallies from Saturday’s 3-0 win at West Ham United.

The former two are regular goal-scorers/assist-makers and therefore worthy of their respective £9.3m and £9.1m transfer fees.

At £7.5m, Lampard is worth keeping an eye on – he took a while to get going last season then hit a run of supreme goal-scoring form, so his brace against his old side could be the start of another.

Oh, and Arsenal sensation Aaron Ramsey may have been relatively quiet against Southampton, but he’s bound to score against his old side Cardiff City this weekend.

Football just seems to work like that. Ask West Ham.

Fantasy Football Tips, Gameweek 13 – Strikers

Manchester City pair Sergio Agüero (£11.9m) and Álvaro Negredo (£9.1m) are in devastating form, and we see no reason why this shouldn’t continue at home to Swansea.

Ditto Liverpool duo Luis Suárez (£12.1m) and Daniel Sturridge (£9.7m), who go to a Hull City side that lost at home to struggling Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Both partnerships look capable of setting each other up for goals, which is a right old throwback after years of lone strikers.

Either Agüero or Suárez should be your captain for this weekend, we reckon – remember, captains get double points so two or three goal hauls will take you a long way.

Loïc Rémy scored for a third successive game in Newcastle United’s 2-1 win over Norwich City, and you might back him to make it four at home to West Bromwich Albion.

Underestimate the Baggies at your peril, though, for they won at Old Trafford and by all rights should have done so at Stamford Bridge as well.

We’d apply similar caution to Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud, who scored twice at home to Southampton on Saturday but might not find a trip to Cardiff City so straightforward.

Similarly, Everton’s Romelu Lukaku scored twice against Liverpool but might find himself more effectively shackled by Stoke City’s more physical defenders.

By the way, don’t be afraid of forfeiting four points in order to make an extra transfer, as long as it’s one you have confidence in.

Your new acquisition might go on to earn more points than that in his first game alone, so don’t hang on to out-of-form players just to avoid dropping points – ironically, this could wind up costing you.

Sometimes it pays to speculate to accumulate. Just be careful – we gave up eight points to be able to afford Robin van Persie, and he missed out through injury.

Make late decisions if at all possible.
