Referee Andrew Davey was spotted telling the players to “calm the f*** down” during the Northern Ireland Football League Cup final.

Linfield lifted the trophy after beating Ballymena United 1-0 at Windsor Park in Belfast under the watchful gaze of the Northern Irishman on Saturday.

Love how you can "hear" the accent when he says down

A clip of Davey has been widely shared online as people state they can’t help but lip read what he’s saying in the national accent.

The ref, who has since had his performance criticised by Linfield captain Jamie Mulgrew, appears to be shouting “calm the f*** down” in broad Irish diction.
