Hemsworth Miners Welfare’s 2-1 win over Runcorn Linnets in an Emirates FA Cup extra-preliminary round tie descended into a mass brawl during which one fan hit an assistant referee in the head with the ball from close-range.

As tensions boiled over following a few rough challenges, the furious supporter took it upon himself to direct his throw at the official, to the audible disgruntlement of his fellow non-league supporters.

The victim of the attack barely flinched though and the men in charge eventually managed to calm the situation down at the MDC Sports Stadium in Yorkshire on Saturday, sending two players off in the process.

Watch as the mad fan hits one of the assistant referees in his head with the ball and the rest of the brawl in the short video above.
