One young France fan holding a baguette was caught on the television coverage of their World Cup quarter-final against Uruguay cheering the opening goal in the 2-0 win on Friday.

The youngster was possibly accompanied to Nizhny Novgorod by his father, a man beside him dressed almost identically with a blue shirt and beret in the colours of the national flag.

Completing the get up was a loaf of French bread, wielded above the child’s head after Raphaël Varane put them in front shortly before half time.
