Several cars were used in an effort to defrost the pitch in time for Bognor Regis Town’s FA Trophy clash with Altrincham on Tuesday night.

The away side tweeted a photo of a number of vehicles, apparently driven onto the pitch at Nyewood Lane in the minutes leading up to kick off in a last-ditch attempt to provide an additional heat source.

Luckily, particularly for the visiting Altrincham fans who had already made a 254 mile trip to the south coast for the game, the pitch sufficiently thawed and the match was able to go ahead as planned – although they did see their team lose 2-1 to the hosts.
