Transcripts and clips of the interview have recently emerged but now you can see the full Sir Alex Ferguson interview on The Charlie Rose Show.

Key points include Ferguson turning down the opportunity to manage Chelsea in 2003 and his belief in David Moyes.

He rules out the possibility of returning to football management in the future, alleges that Wayne Rooney did ask to leave the club in the summer and believes Beckham “lost focus” when he married Victoria from the Spice Girls.

The old master also revealed the hardest part of being a manager:

When you see a player and you recognize that the day has come, and he’s had his time.

… and that his favourite ever player was Pele:

I’m a Pele fan from way back when I was a kid, and then there was always this thing about Pele and Maradona. I was young and impressionable as a kid but it was always Pele for me.

Today, I think that you have got to look at Messi and Ronaldo. They are unbelievable. The best today. They are fantastic – absolutely.
