Our Fantasy Premier League tips Gameweek 8 defenders round-up is here to help you plunder those post-international-break points!

Though our tips are based on FPL player prices, the principles should apply more or less across the board – so even if you’re fantasy footballing at Sky Sports, the Telegraph, the Mirror or indeed anywhere else, stick around.

MORE FANTASY FOOTBALL TIPS:

Shall we?

Nathaniel Clyne, Southampton – £5.5m

With Saints at home to Sunderland this weekend then at home to Stoke the next, attacking full-back Clyne could well be about to consolidate his position as one of the FPL’s top points-scoring defenders.

Mind you, you could say the same of his £5.3m team mate Ryan Bertrand – and at £5.1m, goalkeeper Fraser Forster is also worth a look.

Pablo Zabaleta, Manchester City – £6.5m

City play host to a low-scoring Spurs side in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off, with Zabaleta looking firmly ensconced as Manuel Pellegrini’s first-choice right-back once again.

What’s more, his two assists in the 4-2 win at Hull City the other week underlined his potential to get you points for attacking contributions as well as for clean sheets.

Winston Reid/James Tomkins, West Ham United – £5m

The Hammers are flying high in 7th going into this weekend’s game at shot-shy Burnley, where a clean sheet would make £5m look very reasonable.

You can also get goalkeeper Adrián for the same price, although do bear in mind that West Ham take on Man City in Gameweek 9.
