You should by now have seen the majestic own goal recently plundered by Arsenal youngster Carl Jenkinson in a friendly against FC Köln. You also may very well agree that it’s worth seeing again. So let’s do just that…

2. Chris Brass – A classic of the genre, the current assistant manager at Scunthorpe United assured himself a place in football humour history with this attempted overhead clearance for Bury against Darlington in 2006…

3. Goran Rubil – In March 2010, Hajduk Split defender Goran Rubil drilled past his own goalkeeper in predatory fashion to scoop a Burp Gong for Own Goal That Looked Least Like an Accident

4. Defender gets knocked out – We don’t know who to credit for this tremendously amusing excerpt from Melville Celtic’s titanic tussle with Ballymahon B but both goalkeeper and defender deserve great credit for this gem…

5. Defender chips own ‘keeper from thirty-five yards out with his face – Ditto for this classic from the glamour tie between Waterford United and Mervue United…

6. Defender chips own goalkeeper from twenty yards out with his arse – You might find this…a little cheeky…

7. Jamie Pollock – A poignant reminder of just how disaster-prone Manchester City used to be, this inverted version of Matt Le Tissier’s memorable goal against Newcastle United practically relegated them to the old Division Two as recently as 1998…

8. Gary Neville and Paul Robinson – Made all the funnier by Borat’s ominous omnipresence…

9. Lee Dixon – “Nice one, Dicko”…

10. Djimi Traore – And to think they were calling Bruno Cheyrou “the new Zidane” when it was Traore that managed to perfect the famous ‘Zidane turn’, shown here to such devastating effect as to send his Liverpool side crashing out of the FA Cup at the hands of Burnley…
