Watch the player throws tackler to the floor video, featured on Match of the Day 2 last night, that shows Worcester City’s Shab Khan attempting a wrestling move on Stockport County midfielder Charlie Russell after feeling the effects of a bad tackle.

In the 89th minute of Worcester City’s 2-0 home win in the Vanarama Conference North at Aggborough on Saturday, the full-back appeared to take particular exception to a clumsy bid to win the ball near the corner flag by a frustrated Russell.

Russell was handed a yellow card for the original tackle and was substituted soon after while Kahn obviously received a straight red.

Manchester Evening News reports Stockport County manager Alan Lord as saying:

He seemed to be alright in there.

I think it will have a more mental effect than a physical one.

I’ve never seen that in my life – apart from in a couple of pubs, perhaps, but not in a football game and I’m still struggling to deal with the view of that in my mind.

I saw Charlie put a late tackle in – which was a bit rash – but I didn’t see any personnel complaining.

Then I saw one of their players pick up Charlie and swing him over his shoulder.

I haven’t been one in the past to give a lot of credit [to officials] but I have to say they handled a couple of incidents with the due respect and caution that they warranted.
