Newcastle fans were left disappointed after Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct bought ailing high-street chain House of Fraser, saving it from possible closure, because of what they feel is a lack of recent investment in the team.
The company announced the acquisition to the stock exchange on Friday, paying £90m in cash to the administrators.

Mike Ashley has bought House of Fraser for £90m. The department store will go straight into Rafa Benítez's Newcastle squad for tomorrows game against Spurs.

Mike Ashley's a smart man. Bought a £90m business and now Newcastle have 3000 extra employees at their disposal. There's bound to be atleast 20 of them who can ping a 40 yarder into the back of the net.

Mike Ashley knows only too well that there’s only one man who can, after his recent takeover turn the House of Fraser business around and that man is the former Newcastle United manager John Carver.
