Euro 2016 Fantasy Football tips Matchday 1: Defenders
- By Football Burp
Strengthen your defensive line after consulting this Euro 2016 Fantasy Football tips Matchday 1 defenders round-up, based on the official UEFA game sponsored by McDonald’s.
With Matchday 1 incorporating each team’s first group stage game (June 10th-14th), recommended selections include players from England, Republic of Ireland, France, Belgium and Austria.
Jason Denayer, Belgium – €4.5m
Having impressed on loan at Turkish giants Galatasaray this season, the Man City starlet looks set for a starting berth in the much-fancied Belgians’ back line.
Adil Rami, France – €5m
He’s not been in the best form for France of late, but the Sevilla centre-back is expected to start alongside Laurent Koscielny having helped his club to a third straight Europa League triumph – and the French have what looks like an easy group, with Albania, Romania and Switzerland to play.
Man City’s Eliaquim Mangala is similarly priced, in case he manages to force his way in – be sure to keep an eye out.
Danny Rose, England – €5.5m
Expected to be Roy Hodgson’s first-choice left-back after a successful season’s rampaging forwards for Tottenham Hotspur.
Séamus Coleman, Republic of Ireland – €5.5m
May not have had the finest of seasons for Everton, but his attacking style could pose a problem or two for the likes of Belgium and Italy.
Christian Fuchs, Austria – €6m
How about a Premier League title winner? Leicester’s Fuchs doesn’t come cheap, but he can make key attacking contributions and was part of an Austrian defence that kept a fair few clean sheets in qualifying.
Good luck and happy selecting!
